Title of the Book: Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail Author: Cheryl Strayed  Number of Pages: 336 Rating: ☆☆ Review:

New York Times best seller Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed is a less than exceptional memoir about the author's journey of self discovery. Throughout the book, Strayed writes about her present situation and what lead to her predicament while traveling on a hiking trail that connects Mexico to Canada. Strayed “hiked” about 1,100 miles of the 2,650 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. The book includes several incidents where the trip does not go as plan as well as how she deals with the change and what she would of done before. There was only one really memorable moment when Strayed runs into some sketchy guys by herself.
However, I do not believe the novel exceeded expectations or even met them for that matter. Each chapter seemed to drag on with the same old everyday events: getting up, hiking with sore feet, and running across people every once in a while. The constant flashbacks came rather abruptly and interrupted the passages flow excessively.

If you do not  mind the treacherous redundancy then the book may be for you. The self discovery is rather unique and inspirational if you can get past her writing style. And if so, then you can read about how the former crack addict, adulterous goes from a life of ruins to a whole new person in a measly 336 pages. Strayed's raw emotion and brutal honesty to herself makes her stand out from the hoaxy authors in the field.
